QUESTION: Sheikh, iddah is performed to make sure if the woman is pregnant or not. Will it be valid if she does ultrasonography and blood test to accurately make her pregnancy sure and marry before 3 periods if she’s not pregnant?

ANSWER: The iddah is from Allah and not necessary only to make sure there is no pregnancy. Otherwise it won’t vary from one cycle to 3 cycles to 3 months and finally to 4 months and 10 days

While in Iddah, is a woman allowed to celebrate Eid?

ANSWER: Yes, she can celebrate it in her home.

My Father died a week ago and he was a govt. Servent, Now my mother is on Eddat, Being policy of Govt. She have to received his Job Benifits (Pension) on monthly Basis, it has to process as soon as possible after death. If she need to Go to Bank for opening account or other Govt office for important signatures. Is it allowed for her? What if she need to see a doctor?

ANSWER: Mourning is different than feeling sad. She must not mourn for more than 4 islamic months and 10 days.

My father died. And my mother is in her Iddah for 4 months and ten days. Recently my grandmother also died. So my mother went to see her before burial. So is this permissible??

Sheikh my father died one week ago and my mother wants to stay in iddah for forty days because she needs to b present for the documentation and legal work. Is this permissible for her to stay in iddah for 40 days or 4 months 10 days is mandatory for her

ANSWER: There’s no such thing as 40 days Iddah! She must observe the full iddah of 4 months and 10 days of hijri calendar, however she can go out due to necessity.
