QUESTION:I have heard that asking Allah to forgive the sin which a person is repenting of is not part of repentance. Is this true? If it isn’t true, how to ask Allah for forgiveness while repenting?

ANSWER: You must immediately stop the sin and then repent!

How do exactly does someone repent. Ik that you must feel sincere remorse,quit right away, and to intend not to do it again but is that it? For example I just sinned and now I have all the 3 things and I say “Ya Allah forgive me” is that repentance? Or is there some other actions I must do.

ANSWER: This is sufficient but if you pray 2 rakahs of tawbah prayer, that would be best.

ANSWER: Remorse is one of the pillars of repentance without which the repentance is not valid.

What should a person do/keep in mind if he had lost all hopes in giving up on a major sin or it feels too difficult for him to gave up on it but he still want to get rid off that sin ?

ANSWER: Giving up is like reserving your seat in the front row in hell! One must not give up and must always try and die trying.

When I was younger I had a haram relationship with a non-Muslim. I have repented and married a Muslim man. However, I still miss my ex. Can I see him again in jannah?

ANSWER: Of course not! Non Muslims don’t enter paradise! You should be worried if you are going to make it to paradise yourself! Part of your repentance is to feel remorse for your sin which is obvious you don’t have!

If the 3 conditions of seeking forgiveness isn’t fulfilled and a person without any regret or trying to stop that sin , asks Allah for forgiveness, will be his/her forgiveness accepted?

ANSWER: All sins require repentance! The prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam warned Muslims from minor sin and gave the example of little twigs and branches that when gathered together can build a huge fire.

Man killed 99 people then wanted to repent then killed another man who was an imam,cuz the imam said he is not elligible for repentance.etc. He was forgiven.Because of this story many ppl think they can be forgiven easily.because he was forgiven even after killing the last person.He was in a repent mood b4 killing him.but he still continue wrong what’s ur opinion abt this

ANSWER: He was forgiven because he took the measures to leave that town as part of his repentance! This showed his remorse over such killings. On the other hand, we are also told about a woman who was admitted to hell for not feeding her cat until it died.

In a video you made recently you said that someone who sinned and repented can not be on the level of someone who never sinned. I thought the ruling was that past was wiped of someone who repente . And doesent sincerity and love to allah decides someones level in jannah Because of the video you made on this topic I feel doomed as I want to reach al firdaus. ANSWER: We are talking about level in righteousness and Iman and not in forgiveness. The sins have been forgiven and such a person won’t go to hell, but will he be in the same level of someone who didn’t sin? Of course not!

In the Hadith of sayyidul Istighfaar, when The Prophet (ﷺ) added. “If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.” What does day and night mean in the context?
